THRIVE [FOR PREPARED ELECTRONICS AND EUPHONIUM*]

commissioned for David Gonzalez and the International Women’s Brass Conference, May 2019.

PRICE: $25 PDF (+$1.06 PAYPAL FEES)/$30 HARD COPY

*A TUBA PART IS AVAILABLE BY REQUEST.

This piece is a duet between prepared electronics and live euphonium. The electronic backtrack is a combination of voices, quotes, and a bass synthesizer. The work contains the voices of Michelle Obama, Janelle Monae, Frances McDormand, Dr. Christine Ford, my mother, my younger sister, and all the male politicians who wish to silence them. The euphonium is interacting with these voices, lamenting, praising, disgusted with what the backtrack contains.

I created this piece during the trial between Dr. Christine Ford and Brett Kavanaugh. I premiered this piece right after the controversial Alabama abortion ban.

The backtrack is best in stereo surround.

The score is in bass clef only.
